U.S PRESIDENTIAL candidate Mitt Romney has come under fire for his comments about Palestine not wanting peace.
So far on his gaff ridden campaign trail, Republican nominee Romney has managed to insult London 2012 organisers, insulted 47% of Americans and now has been caught out over his comments on Palestine.
At a fundraiser in Florida Romney was videoed saying, “I look at Palestine not wanting to see peace anyway, for political purposes, committed to the destruction and elimination of Israel, and these thorny issues, and I say there’s just no way.”
It contradicts Romney’s public comments of wanting a “two state solution.” Even conservative commentators have labelled Romney as “stupid and arrogant.”
Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said: “No one stand to gain more from peace with Israel than Palestinians and no one stands to lose more in the absence of peace than Palestinians.
“Only those who want to maintain the Israeli occupation will claim the Palestinians are not interested in peace.”
This isn’t the first time Romney has landed himself in hot water with disparaging comments aimed at the people of Palestine. Only a few months ago he insinuated that the Palestinian people were culturally inferior to Israelis.
