It has been confirmed that the next Bond film will be called ‘Skyfall’ with filming scheduled to start today. It will be the 23rd in the franchise and will see Daniel Craig in his third out as 007. He will be joined Javier Bardem who is set to play the Bond villain.
The leading ladies have also been revealed in the form of French Actress Berenice Marlohe who will play a character called Severin and Naomie Harris who will play Eve. Dame Judi Dench will return as Bond’s superior ‘M’. Also starring are Albert Finney and Ralph Fiennes.
The films storyline will take Bond to London, Scotland, Turkey and China, with MI6 under attack. Bond’s loyalty is also set to be tested. Rumours had been going around that the action sequences would be toned down or even scrapped altogether but director Sam Mendes ruled this notion out.
He said at the announcement that the “fantastic script” had “all the elements of a classic Bond movie, including – to quell any rumours – lots of action. The movie will reveal everything, and there’s lots of surprises.”
Daniel Craig added, “Being lucky enough to get the chance to do a third one, it is my intention to make the best Bond movie we possibly could – and Bond with a capital B – and I’m just incredibly proud to be part of this group of people.”
Longtime Bond writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade return. But as of yet no one has been chosen to write and perform the Bond theme.
‘Skyfall’ is set to be released on the 26th October 2012 here in the UK.
